Religious Eduaction at Abbeydale Grange School
All students at Abbeydale Grange experience one lesson of Religious Education at both Keystages.
Unlike other subject areas Religious Education follows a locally agreed syllabus where all pupils have the opportunity to learn new vocabulary related to religion and express their beliefs around religious issues. All six world religions are delivered; this includes Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Sikhism and Buddhism. In preparation for their GCSEs pupils explore moral issues and study religious teaching concerning issues.
At Keystage 4 pupils study the short course GCSE. This course helps pupils mature and become sensitive individuals towards human experiences. Awareness of diversity in society is made where pupils are taught to gain respect and value of others cultures.
Assessment is made through a variety of ways including discussion work, classwork, role plays and end of unit assessments at both Keystages.
