Physical Education at Abbeydale Grange School
Curriculum
Through the curriculum, over Key Stage 3 and 4, students cover activities in the following areas: gymnastics, dance, athletics, games and outdoor and adventurous activities. GCSE PE is a popular option at Key Stage 4 with over 50% of students in Year 10 opting to study it. PE is also an option subject for Years 8 and 9 and proves extremely popular, with high participation numbers in both year groups. Youth Sports Leader is run during lessons for students wanting to gain the award.
Out of School Hours Learning

- Abdi Risak Ahmed selected for England Cross-Country Team
- Yasin Mohammed Y9 Boys City Champion 1500m
- Huggins Phiri Y10 Boys City Champion Shot Putt
In addition to school teams, the department offer a wide range of leadership and transition awards, courses and events including:
- Junior Sports Leader Award
- Infant and Primary Trampolining Clubs
- Primary Gymnastics Club
- Key Stage one and two festivals in cricket, football, basketball, athletics and ball skills
- Highly successful movement festival in conjunction with the Family Primary Schools
