ICT Service Department
We have a new team of technicians and data manager who were all appointed during the summer of
2006. They have been a huge success in bringing the school forward. They are: -
Mr D Stocks – Senior Technician
Mr D Wheatley – Trainee Technician
Mr J Parr – Data Manager
It is my aim as Network Manager to ensure that staff and students not only have access to the technical tools they require in order to continually develop. But also to look into new and exciting ways to improve the teaching and learning experience while in school, as well as maintaining a secure and safe environment for students to work in.
We have recently made a massive investment into ICT and improving the current structure of ICT in school. During the summer we undertook a massive reconstruction of ICT. This included setting up 2 brand new ICT classrooms. Below is a list of work and room developments: -
- Room 21 – Now has 26 iMacs and 10 MacBooks including a colour LaserJet Printer and wireless access point.
- Room 3 - Now has 26 iMacs and 10 MacBooks including a colour LaserJet Printer and wireless access point.
- Library – Now has 15 PCs and 5 laptops including a black laser printer and wireless access point.
- Technology – 19 PCs and a colour A3 laser printer.
- G1 – 11 Macs and laptops including a laptop trolley consisting of 12 laptops, a colour laser printer and a wireless access point.
- Art – 6 Mac’s and 2 photo printers.
- Music – 5 Macs and 3 laptops.
The new systems which have been setup during the summer are dual booting between Windows and Mac. This is cutting edge technology but I believe that we have the patience and skills to be able to deal with any complications that arise. What better experience and skills can you have when you go to a future employer than to say you are competent in both Mac and Windows?
Nearly all classrooms in school have an interactive whiteboard or the ability to project digital images to the class.
I am hoping next year to offer more ICT to more areas (both geographically and subjectively) of the school and am keen to show that with Media Arts and ICT you can produce not only a higher standard of work but also a captivating experience to both staff and pupils.
