Animation Projects at Abbeydale Grange School
There are many different types of animation. Find out about some techniques at www.filmeducation.org/primary/animation/animation.html
At Abbeydale Grange School we mostly use a particular piece of software called istopmotion.
This easy to use software generates stop frame animation at a rate of 20 fps (frames per second). So you need around twenty shots of tiny movements, to create a good quality second of animation. Look at the ‘animation inspiration’ section on the istopmotion website for examples of some great animations.
Here are just a few examples of the work created by staff and students at Abbeydale Grange School. The first three animations were produced by staff that took part in the Media Arts INSET day in 2005.
The doll animation was produced by Ellen Clark for the Applied Art GCSE.
The two animations at the bottom of the selection were produced by students from Y5 at Dobcroft Primary School. Students used the facilities in G1 for three afternoons spread over three weeks. We were supported by one of our regular Artists in Residence, Jenni Booth.
The facilities for making animation are available for booking. Any staff, students or members of the community with ideas for projects should contact Joe Gradwell.
